CONVENTION SITE INFORMATION

The Convention site consists of a number of different areas that each focus on a specific type of aircraft or activity. For instance, there are aircraft parking areas for showplanes (Homebuilts, Antiques, Classics, Contemporaries, Warbirds, Ultralights, Light Planes and Rotorcraft). Last year 2,584 showplanes could be found along the EAA OSHKOSH flight line. On one end were the Warbirds - 427 to be exact - military aircraft primarily from the World War II era. Homebuilt aircraft numbered 740 and included the latest new designs as well as many old favorites. Antiques totaled 138, Classics accounted 730 airplanes and Contemporaries added another 223. In addition, EAA OSHKOSH '94 featured 182 Ultralights and Light Planes, 36 Rotorcraft and 83 Seaplanes.

The Exhibition Areas - Indoor, Outdoor and the "Fly Market" - are located within easy walking distance of each other. The expanded Indoor Exhibit Area now includes over 600 booths ranging in subject matter from avionics to zero-time engines. The Outdoor Exhibit Area includes everything from new, full-size airplanes and kits to individual aircraft components and other aviation-related items. Nearby is the EAA Fly Market, which offers artifacts and souvenirs for every aviation interest.

The Forums Plaza and Workshop areas are also located conveniently close to each other. Forums are conducted inside 10 large tents that seat up to 400 people. These tents become beehives of activity from morning to night each day of Convention. Hundreds of forums are presented each year.

Workshops offer valuable hands-on experience to novice and expert alike in such diverse areas as basic welding, airframe welding, woodworking, sheet metal, fabric covering and composites, to name a few.

Comprehensive Spouse Activities range from volunteering to greeting new airplane arrivals and participating in aerobics to attending specially designed forums or touring area historical sights, outlet stores and shopping malls. An extensive Youth Activities Program includes special forums and workshops, on-site arts and crafts, organized recreational opportunities and daily trips to the local YMCA for swimming.

There are 30 on-site food outlets that range from small concession stands to cafeteria-style restaurants that offer a variety of menus. In addition, three grocery stores can be found in the various camping areas.
