NEW PRESCOTT AFFS PHONE SYSTEM
On March 31, 1999, the Prescott AFSS commissioned a new telephone system. While the new system changes the way we do things, there are also changes that will affect our users who call for weather information or to fast file their flight plans.

The phone number is the same…dial 1-800-WXBRIEF from anywhere in Arizona. However, the briefing may sound different to you.

Once you’ve reached the greeting, you may dial:

  • 1 to talk to a pilot briefer,
  • 2 to listen to a recorded weather product, or
  • 3 to get to fast file.

You may also dial 8 to reach a menu explaining in detail how to use the new system. At any time you can press the # sign and return to the main menu.

When you dial 2, you’ll be routed to the recorded weather products, and a menu of what is available will be presented to you. Once there, at any time, you can dial the number of the recorded product you want to hear. You’ll need only to dial two numbers to listen to a recording. The menu is as follows:

Dial 12 for Advisories & Forecast from PHX/TUS to Southern California.

Dial 13 for Current Conditions from PHX/TUS to Southern California.

Dial 14 for Advisories & Forecast from PHX/TUS to Southern Nevada.

Dial 15 for Current Conditions from PHX/TUS to Southern Nevada.

Dial 16 for Advisories & Forecast form PHX to Central New Mexico.

Dial 17 for Current Conditions from PHX to Central New Mexico.

Dial 18 for a Weather Summary for Northern Arizona.

Dial 20 for a Weather Summary for a 50 NM Radius of Phoenix.

Dial 21 for a Weather Summary for Southeastern Arizona.

Dial 22 for the Soaring Forecast.

Dial 23 for a Calendar of Aviation Events.

To file or close a flight plan:

Dial 3 at the greeting/main menu for the Fast File system.

At that point you can dial 1 to record a VFR flight plan or to close a VFR flight plan.

Dial 2 to file an IFR flight plan.

Questions or comments?
Speak to a pilot weather briefer or call our administration number, 520-778-7810. Thank-you.
