A PUBLICATION OF THE FRESON FLIGHT STANDARDS DISTRICT OFFICE.......209-487-5306

HAPPY NEW YEAR! (One Month Earlier)

The Fresno FSDO trusts that all aviators in the District enjoyed a premium and safe holiday season with your families & friends. El Nino played havoc as expected and your weather strategies for aviation purposes were definitely challenged. We are happy to report that no district WINGS pilots were involved in any incidents and/or accidents from October thru mid-December. Good job!

WELCOME TO THE ‘98 SAFETY SEMINAR SCHEDULE

I wish to thank all you folks who communicated with me their ideas and suggestions on subjects they desired to see presented during the ‘98 season. The consensus of those who responded, stated that they preferred the consistently scheduled monthly meeting date, as has been done in the past. Therefore this office will, in general, follow the same schedule dates as most folks are already familiar.

1st THURSDAY OF THE MONTH--ANNOUNCED AIRPORTS
 2nd THURSDAY OF THE MONTH--BAKERSFIELD MEADOWS(BFL)
3rd THURSDAY OF THE MONTH--MERCED/CASTLE Airport
4th THURSDAY OF THE MONTH--FRESNO-CHANDLER Airport

As of this writing (12/15/97), our seminar syllabus remains in flux. Many potential speakers are on holiday and because of such, firm dates have yet to be established. Still, I desire to share with you my intentions for an exciting, diverse, and informative Safety Seminar Program for 1998! My office now has the high-tech equipment to make up-to-the-minute programs to address any "current" issues that will be in the forefront with the aviation community. Basic seminar characteristics will be spoken via the "module" context.

Actual program content and speakers for 1998 will be firmed up and formally announced at our first of the year meetings in February and via the Internet.
