CAUTION ADVISORY
Caution is advised in the vicinity of the Watsonville Airport
for numerous aircraft, including many NON-RADIO
aircraft.
CAUTION ADVISORY
MAY 23 and 24 (Saturday and Sunday) 12pm (noon) to 4pm
CAUTION ADVISED for ACROBATIC
FLIGHT and PARACHUTE JUMPING within a two (2) nautical mile
radius of the Watsonville Airport from
the Surface to 6,000 feet MSL .
REDUCED RUNWAY SEPARATION
The following separation standards may be applied to both arrivals and departures:
Separation between Category I (small single engine) aircraft may be reduced from 3,000 feet to 1,500
feet.Separation between Category I aircraft following Category II aircraft may be reduced from 3,000 feet
to 1,500 feet.
HELPFUL HINTS:
WVI will most likely be landing Runway 20, which is 4500 feet
long by 150 feet wide. Left traffic Runway 20 is the
standard traffic pattern. If the frequency is not overly
congested, contact the temporary tower on 126.4 at least five
miles out.
If unable to contact the tower due to frequency congestion or
if you are flying a NORDO aircraft, overfly the airport at
or above 3,000 feet and execute a standard 45 entry to the
pattern. Rock your wings vigorously for airborne
acknowledgements.
Do not make unnecessary radio transmissions where procedures
clearly state MONITOR THE FREQUENCY
ONLY.
After landing, DO NOT STOP ON THE RUNWAY; expeditious
clearing of the runway to the left is essential. Do
not make 180s on the runway as other aircraft will be
landing behind you.
Once off the runway, follow the flag persons to parking. It is not necessary to contact ground, but monitor 121.05.
TEMPORARY FLIGHT SERVICE STATION
The Oakland AIFSS will provide facilities at the Watsonville
airport, Friday afternoon MAY 22 and Saturday and
Sunday, MAY 23 and 24 for Weather Briefings, Flight Plan Filing
and for the closing of flight plans. The temporary
FSS will be located adjacent to registration. To activate VFR
flight plans, pilots are requested to contact Oakland
Radio on frequency 122.5 or 122.6.

LAKE TAHOE TOWER LETTER TO AIRMEN N0. 98-2
SUBJECT: AREAS OF NON-VISIBILITY FROM CONTROL TOWER
CANCELLATION: June 1, 1999
Higher terrain and stands of tall pine trees create areas of non-visibility from
the control tower in the north, south and west quadrants of the traffic
patterns. Traffic advisories and sequencing in the traffic patterns are based
on position reports received from pilots in these effected areas. Pilots are
urged to make accurate position reports and to be vigilant for other flight
activity. The control tower may be unable to visually observe traffic in these
areas.
